Why I built this
I sat across from Spanish tutors in Barcelona and heard the same thing over and over: "I wish I knew what they were saying between lessons." That's the gap Charla closes. Not by replacing you — by giving you the data you never had. You're still the one teaching; Charla is just the pair of ears you couldn't afford to have in the room.

On consent and privacy
Charla requires both speakers to consent before every recording. Audio is processed and deleted — only the transcript and analysis are stored. GDPR-compliant. EU-hosted in Paris.

Does Charla replace me as a tutor?
No — and it never will. Charla has no AI conversation partner. Students don't talk to a bot; they talk to real humans (including you). What Charla does is listen to the conversations that happen between your lessons and give you a mistake report before the next session. You're still the teacher. Charla is the pair of ears you couldn't afford to have in the room.
Do my students need to set anything up?
No. You send an invite link. They download Charla, log in, and record. Their first conversation appears in your dashboard within 15 seconds of finishing.
What does Charla actually correct?
Grammar (subjunctive, ser/estar, por/para, gender, conjugation, complex tense agreement), vocabulary gaps (academic vs. informal register), and a Flow score tracking how students carry conversation.
How is this different from a tutor platform like italki or Preply?
Charla doesn't find you students — it makes the students you already have more valuable. It gives you mid-week data you couldn't charge for otherwise, turning 1-hour weekly lessons into a continuous loop.
Can I generate homework from a student's mistakes?
Yes. One click inside each report generates targeted exercises tied to the exact rules the student missed, using Gemini 2.0 Flash. Editable before you send.
How does pricing work?

Which languages are supported?
Spanish, English, and Catalan are currently in active testing for our Barcelona school partners. Multi-language support (French, German, Italian, and Portuguese) is coming next. If you teach in these languages, we'd love to involve you in the pilot.

Students carry out "real-world missions" (ordering coffee, asking directions) and record them on their own phones.
The Feedback Loop
The teacher receives the mistake reports. We review the data together after 4 weeks to measure the impact on student confidence.
